The Pros and Cons of Bathroom Marble Countertops

Installing marble countertops offer a number of pros and cons. Take a look at them:

Pros

  • Visual appeal. Marble looks very dramatic and adds a wonderfully elegant touch to your kitchen. You could choose from a number of colors. Solid black or solid white are both classics for a reason. If you want others, there is rose, gray, green, yellow along with white and black spectrums too. If you want unique slabs for your home, this is an excellent option to go for.
  • Heat-resistant. No worries if you’ve got hot pans and pots. Putting in a marble countertop in your bathroom? Your styling tool won’t leave marks on your marble. It won’t yellow because of the heat and sparks don’t even damage the surface.
  • Durable. So long as you take proper care of your marble countertops, you won’t have to worry about spending cash for new ones anytime soon. Marble is sturdy so it’ll last you a long time.

Cons

  • Cost. Marble countertops are definitely not a low-cost option. The slabs come with a hefty price tag. Then there’s the cost of installation as well. Marble isn’t as easy to install on your own if you’re thinking of going with a DIY solution to save up on installation costs. You’ll most likely spend on installation since you want pros to handle it for you, which again adds to your expenses.
  • High-maintenance. You’ve got to reseal the material regularly. That’s because marble is semi-porous. If you don’t reseal it, it’ll absorb liquids and stains, which change the color of your marble.

So if you’re under a tight budget, then going for marble countertops might not be the best way to go. But if a limited budget and high-maintenance costs aren’t an issue, then you might want to give marble a try.
