Helpful Hints For Choosing An Accumulation Table

by | Jun 9, 2017 | Packaging

Although a relatively simple device in a production or packaging line, the right choice in an accumulation table can be important in providing an even supply of product even if there are slight variations in the line.

One very common shape in the accumulation table is the round shape, which makes sense in handling any shape or type of package, bottle or container. You will sometimes hear these tables called unscrambling tables or rotary tables, all which mean the same thing.

Why A Rotary Table is Important

The table is positioned strategically on the conveyor system as a way to collect or accumulate packing or products as needed while settings on equipment are adjusted or when there is a problem with the line. This eliminates the need to completely stop the line, which can result in product waste, damage to items on the conveyor as well as items on the rest of the system.

Without the need to stop the line there is also less risk of damage to equipment and the issues that can occur when starting a line that has not been fully cleared before the stop.

They can also be used as a feed table. In this function, the accumulation table collects the packaging coming down the belt, and it sorts and orients the items before they are returned to the conveyor. To use as a rotary table, the items may simply remain on the table until they are removed, for packaging.

With the constant turning motion, the packaged items do not become blocked in the feed. Additionally, with packaging, it prevents the pressure of items coming off the conveyor onto a stationary table that would crush the contents or potentially damage the packaging.

These tables can be customized to the specific size and options required for any operation. Durable and built to last, they are an effective option in many stages of production and packaging.
