Summer weather is a time to raise a glass of beer. Beercations are increasingly becoming popular as people seek out communities where craft breweries offer their enticing wares. In Bend OR, tourists arrive in town, some to gladly follow the Ale Trail; others are there to simply imbibe in local brews between hiking/camping excursions. One event that brings families and beer drinkers together is the Bend Brewfest.
The Bend Brewfest
The Bend Brewfest is currently the second biggest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. A late summer festival – the event usually takes place in the third week of August, it has plenty to offer those who attend. With more than 200 different brews from the American West – both beers and cider, visitors can:
* Sample new brews from craft breweries
* Discover hard-to-find beers
* Rediscover specialty brews
* Sample local cuisine from area vendors
* Enjoy the festival-within-the-festival – the X-Tap program
The annual Bend Brewfest runs for three days. It takes place in the Les Schwab Amphitheater in the historic Old Mill District. The location itself is picturesque since it resides beside the banks of the beautiful Deschutes River. Admission is free.
Bend Brewfest is a celebration of the art and craft or making beer. It commemorates all those who work hard to produce their products. It encourages everyone to discover and rediscover what Pacific West breweries have to offer. It is no wonder it continues to remain a popular event in Central Oregon.
Craft Breweries
Bend Brewfest is a popular event, drawing beer drinkers and their families from across the state and beyond. During this festival, Bend OR becomes awash with excellent examples of local craft brews. Craft breweries from across the West of the country present their offerings – totaling more than 200 beers and ciders – many of them seasonal and/or difficult to find in shops and brewpubs.
