Taking Measurements
Your commercial glass installation will start with a careful measurement of the masonry openings. When storefront windows are installed, ½ to 3/8″ joints are used as recommended by sealant manufacturers. Once measurements are taken and fabrication begins, the glass company will ensure that all window components are installed in compliance with construction documents and manufacturer instructions.
Before Installation
Before you get your Exceptional quality glasswork installed, it’s the glass company’s responsibility to submit documentation form the sealant maker, certifying that the glass used in the windows is compatible with glazing sealants. The documentation must include information on glass performance, as well as recommendations for substrate and primer applications.
During the Install
When the storefront windows are ready for installation, the glass company starts by installing starter frames. Next, the adjacent framing is assembled, and the process continues until only two frames are left. These two frames should be installed in opposing directions.
