Why You Should Switch to Parking Lot Gate Control Systems

Parking Lot Gate Control Systems allow cars to enter and exit a parking lot during approved, scheduled times. These times can be times of the day or even a certain amount of time after a key card is swiped or access code is punched in. What’s most important is that the gate operates as it should so that only those who are supposed to enter a parking lot do so. One or more gates can be controlled by the same system.

With a remote control system, parking lot access can be controlled based on time of day, vehicle status, which gate is being entered, and the classification of the driver approaching. Any of these factors can enable or disable a gate remotely.

How It Saves Money

With a standard system, an employee monitors a gate or every resident and employee of a facility is given an access code to the gate. This, however, can cause problems as employees change frequently and tenants are likely to leave. You don’t want someone who no longer lives or works in the building to regain access. Also, ID badges and keys are lost frequently, barring access to those who should be allowed in. A parking lot gate control system eliminates these problems. With a radio frequency identification (RFID) system, the individual badges in each resident or employee’s car can be automatically reprogrammed to a new frequency. However, you can exclude those who are no longer living or working in the building, thus maintaining a high level of security.

Every time you have to replace key cards or identification stickers, money leaves your business. These expenses can add up, and frankly, they’re not worth it. Parking lot gate control systems will enable you to reprogram RFIDs, re-designate who is allowed access, or change dates and times when the gates are accessible. All of this can be done remotely, meaning it is quicker, more efficient, and less expensive than manually changing protocols.

Also, the cost of a security guard can be prohibitive. Paying a security guard even the federal minimum wage ($7.25 per hour) adds up to approximately $15,000 per year. This price is significantly higher than you would pay for an integrated system that controls access for you.

How It Eases Workflow

At businesses large and small, different departments work different hours and have varying requirements. An old, inflexible system wouldn’t allow for different protocols at different gates. They’re either open or they’re closed. However, parking lot gate control systems will allow you to set different open and close times for different gates, so that the various departments of your business can conduct their business at the appropriate times without compromising the security of other parts of the facility.
