Why A Misting Pump Matters

by | Sep 28, 2015 | Home and Garden

A misting system consists of three major components. These are the

 * Lines and Connectors
 * Nozzles
 * Pumps

In all such systems, the misting pump is one of the most important components. It requires special consideration when an individual, business or industry is considering what type of system to choose.

The Role of the Misting Pump

The misting pump generally refers to the motor and pump combination. They are housed together in a single unit and are usually referred to as the pump. This component plays a significant role in the overall misting system. The system functions correctly when the selected misting nozzles at the end of the water supply lines and connectors are placed in order. Water is then pushed through the lines and out the nozzles by a misting pump. The pump creates what is called the volume of water while the motor supplies the required water pressure. The result is a spray of ultra-fine mist into the designated area as the water droplets are quickly atomized.

Types of Misting Pumps

Three types of misting pumps are common. They are described or defined in accordance with not the volume of water, but the water pressure. The result is the following three categories:

1. Low Pressure Misting Pump
2. Medium Pressure Misting Pump
3. High Pressure Misting Pump

All three are capable of providing the right amount of water to specific types of misting systems. For the finest droplets, however, the optimum producers are high pressure misting pumps.

Choosing a Misting Pump: Size Matters

When choosing the right misting pump it is important to take into account size. You do need to look at such things as the nozzle size and the number of pipes that will be required to cover the designated cooling area. Yet, all this can go for not if the pump size is not correctly chosen to do the job. For misting pumps, size really does matter.

If the misting pump is too small, it may not be able to perform as complete a function as desired. It will fail to fully pressurize and, as a result, not execute its tasks properly. Alternatively, it may operate adequately but become overworked and soon worn out. The money you spent on researching, selecting and installing your system will have been wasted.

If the misting pump you choose is too big, it will perform what it was bought to do. However, what is required from it is comparable to paying a successful major league all-star player to play Little League. The result is acceptable but the money spent is wasted.

The Right Misting Pump Does Matter

If you plan to install a misting system, it is important to pay attention to the pump that will push the water through the supply lines to the nozzles. Make certain the pump not only matches the system but is also in synch with the purpose of the system. Failure to choose the right pressure type and to select the wrong size of misting pump will result in the entire system not living up to its potential.
