Outsiders might think that everyone living within the Chicago Metropolitan region will be housed in high rise apartments of some sort or another and live in an environment that is not totally conducive to pet ownership – especially cats or dogs that really do need to spend some of their time out of doors. While the inner city may not be ideal for active pets, this is not so for Chicagoland as a whole and many of the residents have at least one pet- usually a cat or a dog (or even both). It follows from this that Chicago needs veterinarian services that specialize in the treatment and welfare of cats and dogs. Not only are veterinarian clinics required but, also, specialist facilities such as the South Loop Animal Hospital for the more intensive and supervised care of people’s pets.
Every Pet Owner Should Have A Veterinarian
From a pet’s birth onwards, their owners take on duties and responsibilities to ensure the well being and happiness of their pet(s). Part of this ongoing responsibility is to familiarize themselves with the available veterinarian services within the owners’ particular location. Where are the general clinics located, what are their regular hours and do they provide 24 hour emergency service? The responsible pet owner will know all the answers to such questions.
This knowledge will enable the owner to take care of the routine needs of their pet. Things like vaccinations, removal of parasites, general health checks, etc can all be arranged through a nearby clinic.
Extra Care
However, there can be times when the facilities of a general purpose clinic are insufficient to solve (i.e. cure) a particular pet health problem. This is where places like the South Loop Animal Hospital come into play.
Things like more serious physical injuries, ailments requiring surgical intervention, specialized diagnostics and 24 hour supervision are often beyond the scope of a generalized clinic. Much the same with our own health, we first consult a general practitioner, and then maybe attend a medical clinic before seeking hospital treatment. Our pet’s bodies may look different from ours but their anatomy is not all that different and, logically, they deserve the same the same level of medical consultation, diagnostics, treatment and recovery care as we do.
Chicagolanders with pets can obtain convenient services from Metropolitan Veterinary Center but, for more serious or specialized attention, this Center may also refer pet patients on to their South Loop Animal Hospital. Contact website for more information.
