Let a Professional Asphalt Contractor Install and Repair The Road or Parking Lot

There are times when it can be difficult to keep a driveway in the Houston area in good repair. Unfortunately, a drive with ruts and potholes can cause a lot of damage to an automobile and the more traffic that the surface endures, the worse the problem gets. An Asphalt Contractor can help by creating a water resistant surface for driving and parking those cars and trucks. However, it is not as simple as it sounds even though the use of asphalt is much easier than creating a driveway made of concrete. One of the reasons for this is that the supporting soil needs to be prepared before any asphalt is applied. How much work this will require will depend on the condition and type of the soil.

Asphalt surfaces vary in chemical content and the type of aggregate it contains. For instance, many public roads use a larger aggregate to provide a weight resistant surface. Parking lots, on the other hand, tend to use a smaller aggregate so the surface is smoother. Installing an asphalt surface in a parking area can be tougher than laying a road because of the uneven size of the asphalt areas or the use of concrete for barriers and drainage. To ensure that the surface is smooth, an Asphalt Contractor will use a large compacting machine. The weight removes many of the small voids between the aggregate and makes the surface more reliable. Another method for ensuring long-term reliability is seal coating. This is a protective mixture using sand, bitumen and other chemicals that can be applied by spraying it over the surface or spreading it with a squeegee. The latter is mostly used for smaller areas because the application takes longer and can provide an uneven coating if the job is poorly done.

If the driveway or parking lot is small, then it may be a better idea to cover the soil with asphalt millings. These are very fine particles that are removed from existing asphalt surfaces. They are the perfect option for short driveways that carry little weight. Of course, the millings will need to be mixed with a binding agent to make the surface more stable, but the process can be more cost effective than a new asphalt driveway. These millings have many potential uses including as a base material under asphalt surfaces. Discover more information about asphalt at website. You can like them on Facebook.
