Indications that Furnace Repair is Needed

Furnaces are in high demand during the winter. These higher demands place wear and tear on the system. While regular maintenance can offset some of the problems, the constant demand can result in damage to the furnace. These are some of the indications that the furnace is in trouble and in need of repair work.

Taking a long time to produce heat is a sign that Furnace Repair is needed. While the furnace is designed to heat up a certain amount of air in a certain amount of time, a longer than usual warm-up is an indication of a problem. Burned out heating elements, clogged filters, or a broken mechanical part can be contributing to the breakdown. It is best to shut this system off until the problem can be determined. This will prevent further damage to the furnace.

A furnace that doesn’t shut off once a certain temperature is reached is also a problem. Somewhere along the way, the furnace is not receiving the proper signals. This problem can be occurring in the thermostat or the furnace control box. Both of these are electrical systems designed to control the operation. If the signaling system fails, the system will not operate properly. This can result in additional costs and can place excessive wear and tear on the furnace.

Loud noises from the furnace are a big problem. This is usually the result of a mechanical breakdown somewhere inside the furnace. Since the heat produced by the furnace can cause additional problems, shut it down as soon as noises are heard. An investigation can be done to determine what part is need of replacement. The Furnace Repair job will also inspect other parts of the furnace to ensure those areas haven’t been damaged by the broken part. In this case, the furnace will have to be taken apart.

The furnace is susceptible to breakdowns during seasons of high demand. While proper maintenance can prevent some of the problems occurring, it will not prevent all of them. To protect the furnace, shut it off. After that, contact Four Seasons Heating & Cooling Specialists Inc. to get the problem identified and repaired.
