With the popularity of video on the Internet and the ever-growing need for stylists in the entertainment field, you can make a name for yourself by attending a beauty school in Kansas City or elsewhere.
Work Environments
As a cosmetologist, you can select from one of several different work environments. For instance, you may prefer to work in a traditional-type salon or a salon that is located in a resort setting or at a hotel. Maybe you would like to work out of your home after you build up a solid list of clientele. Regardless of the environment you choose, you will find that you will stay busy throughout the day. Tasks may include styling hair, giving clients facials, manicuring or pedicuring the nails, or applying makeup.
The Cosmetology Curriculum
You will learn all these kinds of skills in beauty school, which, on average, takes about a year to complete on a full-time schedule. If you choose to go part-time, you can become licensed in the field in about two years’ time.
Fitting in the Schooling
If you already work full-time, then opting to go part-time to beauty school is not impossible. You just have to make sure you have a regular work schedule in order to fit in the schooling. However, once you get through the curriculum, you can set your own schedule to some degree.
For example, if you work in a salon, you may either be employed full-time or part-time, depending on the salon’s needs and your background or experience. The hours sometimes fall outside normal business hours and may necessitate that you work on the weekends as well. However, if you know what to anticipate, you will do well in the field and find great satisfaction in this kind of career.
