About Ro-an Bag Machines, Parts and Repair

For many years, many manufacturers that make plastic bags have depended on Ro-an bag machines. Parts for these machines can be quite complex, and having a good source of parts is key to effectively performing repairs.

An Array of Machines Available
Ro-an bag machines have long been considered to be among the best and most reliable bag making equipment on the market. There is a variety of machines in this family, from wickets to side weld machines to bottom sealing machines. They come in different sizes and capacities as well.

How Bag Machines Work
Making plastic bags is a relatively complex process that is accomplished fairly easily by bag machines. The machines take in plastic from large spools through a series of rollers. A conveyer pulls the plastic along through a series of processes. First, the plastic is cut and folded into shape, and the seams are sealed using a heating element. Depending on the type of bag, other finishing touches may be added like zippers or drawstrings. As well, holes may be punched for handles, or the bags might be printed with a logo or company name. Finally, the bags are folded and stacked for delivery to the buyer or user.

Repairing Ro-an Bag Machines
As one would imagine, a complex machine with so many processes contained within it has a lot of potential for a breakdown. While ro-an bag machine, parts and accessories are high quality and durable, they can break down after long-term use. Some of these parts are very specific to the machine, like a conveyer motor or heating element, while others may be as simple as a bolt that could be purchased from any hardware store.

Since repair depends so heavily on parts, a machine owner would be wise to form a good relationship with a parts supplier and perhaps even buy some more critical parts in advance to keep on hand for any breakdowns that may occur at unexpected times. With parts in hand, many repairs can be done quite quickly and effectively by in-house maintenance staff, but major overhauls may still require outside service.
