For any type of application where there is a need to be able to have an accurate measurement of negative pressure, a vacuum pressure transducer will be an important component of the system.
These types of pressure transducers can be found in many different applications and industries including in automated packaging equipment, processing facilities, manufacturing companies and in laboratories and testing facilities. They are also used in automotive test cells and are configured and designed to be integrated into the different applications.
Vacuum pressure is measured between the vacuum and the gauge pressure. The gauge pressure is the pressure measured in reference to the atmospheric pressure. The vacuum range is considered between the range of 0 PSIA (pounds per square inch absolute) and 1 atmosphere or 14.7 PSIA.
Measurement Needs
When selecting a vacuum pressure transducer, it will be critical to understand the vacuum range that needs to be measured. Some designs and models will be able to measure the complete range while most are designed to measure a specific area within the range.
Selecting any type of transducer that is insufficient for the range of pressure in the system is going to create problems with the accuracy, functioning and the lifecycle of the component.
There are also different grades of vacuum pressure transducer options. The testing and measurement grade is designed to be used in a very wide range of conditions. These systems will have low temperature error systems and, with the design, they can also be used through a range of temperatures and continue to provide accuracy in readings.
As with many other types of transducers, they can be powered and in analog versions. Some manufacturers will also provide the same or similar designs in transducers that are available for use with USB connections or serial connections as as well as other types of data transmission.
