An Alternative Storage Solution

When considering industrial storage solutions, typically the first things that come to mind are plastic and metal containers. These types of storage containers are ideal for many types of products and materials. Fiber drums are often used by companies who have materials that don’t have to be storage for a long period of time and aren’t perishable. There are multiple reasons that fiber drums are a good choice for storage.

Lightweight

The most evident advantage of fiber drums is their lightweight construction which makes them easy to transport. Metal and plastic containers have quite a bit of weight themselves, and when contents are added, sometimes the containers can become so heavy that equipment is needed to move them from one place to another. Fiber drums are less likely to need to be moved with equipment. Depending on the contents of the drum, most drums can be easily moved by employees.

Durable

In comparison to metal or plastic, a fiber may not be seen as durable. However, fiber will not rust over time like metal, and it will not be affected by some chemicals like plastic. Fiber drums are built in a way that they will not easily crush, and they are more easily recycled in comparison to plastic and metal. Fiber containers are ideal for dry materials that need to be shipped in a container which will not be easily damaged but is not very heavy.

Tamper-evident

Some fiber drums have a tamper-evident top which can be made of steel, plastic, or fiber. These seals have a locking mechanism around the edge which deters intelligent vermin from breaking in through the top of the container. This also keeps the lid securely in place during shipping or rearranging a storage area. In the case of a drum being disrupted, the lid is not likely to simply pop off, releasing all of the contents.
